Favorable Flaxseed

Medications called statins are taken to lower cholesterol and are very effective, but statin therapy isn’t for everyone. Another answer may be sitting on a grocery store shelf.

Flaxseed, whether raw, ground, or used in cooking and baking seems to significantly reduce total cholesterol and LDL, the so-called “bad cholesterol,” in people with high levels of either – reducing total cholesterol by up to ten percent and LDL by nearly twenty percent.

Flaxseed is also being studied as a natural way to treat diabetes and prevent breast and colon cancer. It’s easy to find and blends into many foods. Now, I’m a fan of statins, but it’s nice to know there’s another route to lower lipids.
