This is a new support group for anyone, especially parents, who have lost their kids due to addiction from drugs and alcohol. I am a mother who has now lost 2 sons from drugs and alcohol. It is senseless and has shaken me to my core. It is my mission to meet at least once a month with others who had had this same experience. Sharing my pain with others who have gone through this type of loss makes a connection with others, which in turn helps me know that I am not alone.
We have lost the people we love too, so we do know how it feels, how hard it is, and that it lasts forever. Hopefully we can help one another carry it by sharing your story. There is nothing easy about it. Nothing will replace your loss – but your life does matter and you are already living in tremendous courage. If the time feels right, come share your story with us. We want to hear it as it helps us feel like we can do on and are not alone in all of this pain and sorrow. We can honor our loved ones by sharing with one another.

We meet the first Monday of every month at the Kankakee Public Library from 6-8 pm.
