Come to Momence June 9 for the annual Heritage Day Festival from noon to 5:30 p.m. when all museums, monuments, historic buildings and sites will be open for free to all visitors. Make it a day for family fun and history while you stop at Island park and see the Civil War Living History encampment, or visit Heritage Hall and the Momence Train Depot Museum for historic exhibits. Other free events include silhouette portraits at the Chipman Library, sitting for an old fashioned photograph at the Graham House, hearing talks from Mrs. Abraham Lincoln at Mt. Airy Little Red School House, Phil Angelou will talk about Kankakee County’s Hollywood connection at Main Street Momence, and a 1940s musical review at the Earl D. Schoeffner Farm Museum. Kids can visit with Mrs. Claus at the Conrad Park Pioneer Cabin, too! Kickoff ceremonies with Momence Honor Guard are noon at the Edward Chipman Library. Street Vendors will be lined up on East Washington Street, as well as musicians and the Theatiki Fife and Drum Corps! Food trucks will be located between River and Locust Street, too!
