I took our seven year old out to the middle of Lake Union on a kayak. In the middle of this, he turns to me and says, “Daddy, we don’t have life jackets on.”
Yes, our seven year old who doesn’t know how to swim realizes that.
I felt terrible. Of course, we paddled back to shore and got the life jackets that we needed.
I’m thankful for that as a mom. That attitude can be a good one in marriage too, because we do get caught out in the deep without the resources we need.
You’re exactly right. Friend, if you find yourself out there, don’t be afraid to paddle back to shore and get the help you need—through a seminar, book, counselor, or small group.
Or just a compassionate friend you can talk to.
