Let’s learn a little bit about the New Shine.FM Morning guy, Kurt Wallace. Kurt was born in East St. Louis, Illinois in 19_ _. (We’re not really sure what year he was born. His official birth certificate was destroyed in the Great St. Clair County Courthouse fire. We can tell you this much, he remembers way too many 60’s songs! Way too many!) Kurt has a twin sister who is 3 minutes older than he is. Her name is Kay and she owns a media advertising agency. (Oh, Kurt is still asked if he and his sister are “identical twins,” which would mean his sister would be one “un-attractive” woman! So, thankfully, they are not! ) Kurt knew from an early age he wanted to be in radio. Growing up in the St. Louis area, he was a huge Cardinal fan. He would call a local sports show every Saturday morning, just to hear himself on the air. Unfortunately for the radio show hosts, Kurt was often the “only” caller into the show. (How many times can you ask the same question, “Uh, how do you think the Cardinals will do this year?” )

Kurt met his wife, Amy, in Jr. High School at the church their families both attended. Amy fondly remembers being able to beat Kurt in arm wrestling! (She claims to owned that ability until Kurt was a Sophomore in high school, when his growth spurt finally kicked in! Kurt does not agree! ) Mr. Wallace was his high school’s student council class president and played baseball and soccer. Not known as an academic wiz, Kurt often talked his way into passing grades. (Go figure!) Kurt attended Greenville College in Greenville, IL where he really caught the radio bug on the campus radio station. He and his roommate had a weeknight show from 10 to midnight. It was pretty big stuff! (The grand prize for the year for listening to their show was a candy bar and soda from the school snack bar! Yep, pretty big stuff!) Kurt married his wife in 1987 and 4 little ones soon followed. Jessika, Emily, Evan and Kimberly. The Wallace’s also run a zoo! It features 3 dogs. A toy poodle, a Chihuahua, and a black lab! (Kurt claims the lab, but the other dogs, or like he says, RODENTS, are his wife’s!)
