Online Spiritual Help

I love reporting on encouraging faith news, and here’s an item that caught my eye this week.

Last year, approximately ten million people around the world experienced the Good News of Jesus Christ by visiting a special website created by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Of those, more than two million said they made a commitment to Christ after viewing the message.

The website is, and it’s part of BGEA’s Search for Jesus Internet ministry.  The site uses scripture, video, and live chat to share the Gospel with visitors.

According to John Cass, BGEA’s Director of Internet Evangelism, the numbers are hard to fathom.

John says, “On a daily basis I get the opportunity to read through transcripts of the chats taking place between visitors to our site and our trained volunteer counselors, and I can tell you that the world is being impacted for Christ.”

According to a press release, the online ministry is strengthened by a network of more than 300 trained volunteers – from 20-somethings to 80 years old.  These are people from all walks of life who have committed to give of their time to assist those who are looking for answers in life.

Director Cass says, “They take the online interaction and make it a much more personal one-on-one experience. They chat with people, guide them through a free online discipleship course, and respond to spiritual questions by e-mail.”
