Ballet 5:8 invites you to experience a riveting evening of dance featuring two one-act ballets. Julianna Rubio Slager’s world premiere The Space in Between is set on a bus ride between heaven and hell, a story inspired by C. S. Lewis’ novel The Great Divorce that explores the nature of eternity and the joy found on its shores. Also featured is Four Seasons of the Soul. Seasons explores how the turning of the seasons in nature parallels the recurring themes of human life. With vivid color and emotion, the work paints a moving picture of the soft innocence of youth, the impassioned zeal of adolescence, the celebrations and tragedies of adulthood, and the coming winter of life’s final chapter.
Shine.FM & Crossroads Community Church to host Christian author, speaker and stand-up comedian Tracy DeGraaf’s one-woman show “Life Happens Laugh Anyway” on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 1538 Janice Drive, Schererville, IN at 7-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 and available at www.aboutccc.com. Tickets may be available at the door for $20.
“In my show, I take the audience through the seasons of a woman’s life from getting married and having kids to gaining weight and growing a beard…and then you meet Jesus,” said DeGraaf. DeGraaf has been performing comedy since 2009 when she launched her humorous book entitled Laugh Anyway Mom – Survival stories from a mother of five who has learned how to keep the joy in motherhood and how you can too.
Trained for comedy at The Second City in Chicago, DeGraaf has quickly made a name for herself. Lake Michigan Shore Magazine called her incredibly funny and named her one of “six Mid-western comedians who crack us up.” Legendary comedian, actress, and fellow mother of five children, the late Phyllis Diller, said this about DeGraaf’s book “A funny book that will make you laugh, cry, and take life as it should be – with a grain of salt!”
